Furthermore, there are many other hiking routes nearby. 🏄 Surfers Lugar de Baixo and Cabo Girão are around 10 minutes away, making it easy to check different spots along the south coast. Sao Vicente at 25 minutes. 🌊 Beaches & coast Calhau da Lapa, Fajã dos Padres, Lugar do Baixo, Ponta do Sol and Funchal are both nearby for swimming, ocean views and days along the coast. ⚠️ House Rules: No parties. No smoking. No pets. Silent hours 22:00 - 08.00. Respect the locals and environment. You make a reservation for a certain amount of guests. Please don’t take more guests than agreed :). 🚗 Parking & access The final road to Casa Morena is narrow and typically Madeiran. Private parking is available, but we recommend it only for small cars and confident drivers. For most guests, the easier option is the free public parking a short walk below the house. 🐓 Local sounds Casa Morena is part of a real local community with small farms and animals nearby. Roosters and other rural sounds can sometimes be heard, especially in the morning. 🪜 Stairs The cottage has a steep internal staircase between the two floors. Please keep this in mind if you have limited mobility. 🌿 Madeira climate Madeira can be humid, particularly during periods of rain. The cottage’s traditional stone walls have been treated to improve moisture resistance, while two AC units with built-in dehumidifiers help keep the indoor climate comfortable.
